New Zealanders are passionate print readers

New Zealanders like to read, avidly consuming vast numbers of newspapers and magazines.

Newspapers have the greatest share of advertiser spend, at 32.8%. Daily newspapers in New Zealand are unique in that they operate in a single paper market within their core distribution areas. This enables them to connect and reflect the local values of the regions they represent.

There are no national daily titles in New Zealand, but The New Zealand Herald alone distributes to where 53% of the population live. APN New Zealand Publishing newspapers' circulation areas cover 72% of New Zealand's population.

In contrast, all the major New Zealand magazines have national distribution, although some have a regional skew. All of APN's New Zealand Magazine titles have full national coverage.
